NAME: Katie "Pidge" Holt
CANON: Voltron: Legendary Defender
POINT IN CANON: Just before the climactic battle of Season 2, Episode 13. (Will likely update when more canon comes out.)
AGE: 16
APPEARANCE: In armor with her cute little bayard and out of armor, doing science.
CANON HISTORY: le wiki
CANON PERSONALITY: Katie "Pidge" Holt is a Paladin of Voltron, the pilot of the Green Lion and Guardian Spirit of Forest. Her lion is a quasi-sentient space ship built ten thousand years ago by a fantastical alien race to defend the universe against all evil. She is also a small ball of enthusiastic, geeky determination and she won’t let you forget it. She will go to any lengths for those she considers family, including disguising herself to infiltrate a military organization for information on her father and brother. Pidge does not give up, seeing problems only as setbacks instead of true issues. When she found information on a downed Galra ship that indicated her family was still alive, she kept searching in different places until she found concrete evidence of her brother being alive. She can be somewhat secretive and standoffish at first, brushing off Hunk and Lance when they tried to make friends with her in the Garrison, or ragequitting a training session with the group when she felt people were prying too much into her headspace. However, as she becomes closer to the rest of the group, she opens up, showing a more enthusiastic and almost child-like side. On the mall planet, she is easily distracted by a video game console, convincing Lance to wade into a fountain to get enough money to purchase it. She also has a very dry, snarky wit, cracking jokes at the rest of the team when she can, as well as babbling when she’s nervous or worked up about something, such as when she is trying to hack through something, scan things for information, or when she was with Shiro on the trek to find her lion.

Her strengths lie in computers and robotics, so much so that in the comic version of her canon, she says she’s better with computers than with people. She is easily able to hack into the firewalled computers of the Galra, and quickly download information and process it. In addition, she makes a communications station out of space junk that she crashed into, giving it enough power and support to contact the rest of her team. Also, she is able to make improvements to her lion, a tens of centuries-old quasi sentient vehicle, seemingly effortlessly. In many ways, Pidge is the brains of Team Voltron, able to solve puzzles for the group and analyze data that most of the team dismisses as just squishy projectiles. She’s proud of her accomplishments, and gets frustrated when Lance or other members of the team dismiss what she finds important. She also is the only person on the team shown to be interested in learning Altean, wanting to know even more about the culture she’s found herself in the middle of.

Team Voltron has become as much of a family to her as her actual father and brother, and through her connections to them, she is growing into a better person. Shiro, Coran and Allura are mentors for her, Hunk a loyal friend and the heart of the group, and as much as she can get frustrated with Lance and Keith, they are her brothers as well. She also has grown through a larger understanding of the world around her. While on the planet of the Olkari, she finds a connection between the computers and data that she loves and the forests and the natural world around her, realizing that everyone is in fact made of star stuff. Through that revelation, she is able to develop a deeper connection with her lion and come out stronger.

VETERAN?: Yes! Pidge is a veteran of Doki and the Grid. At Doki, she was Infiltrating as a young teenage roboticist and spent most of her time excitedly making robots and staring at computers. On the Grid, she was a Crypto who had gotten separated from the rest of the group and was awoken by a Miner and a Revolutionary around the time that the prison was opened. She then found a group of those two Programs, as well as a renegade corrupted Defender and another Defender and fought Automata.

She will return via a dungeon, rescued by Claudia, her friend from Doki, and Shiro, her team leader from home, along with possibly a couple others.

I am requesting S. Tech Mastery (glasses emotion, Mascot, rummage, and Hammerspace Interference), Constructive Enlightenment, and Object Portal as her veteran skills.

ABILITIES: Pidge is a brilliant computer programmer and roboticist. She can build mechanical devices from anything, connecting things to other things to create communications over large distances with enough power. She's also highly analytical, able to solve complex problems easily.

INVENTORY: Paladin Armor (wireless radio communication, space suit (temp/air regulation), jet pack, HUD, blast shield over face, energy shield, control panel, project holo-transmission, vision correction, flashlight, body suit, autorefit/resize, utility belt/pouches, small extradimensional spaces, low-level glow stripes - list borrowed from Megan, with permission), Bayard Weapon (grappler and short-range blade), backpack with a change of clothes and her laptop, as well as a few scraps of space junk, some food skewers, and a photograph of her with her brother Matt.

ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW?

M A R K S;
JUSTIFICATION:
Magician: An unconventional choice for Pidge, but her creativity, energy, and determination with a tiny hint of sneakiness would make them a good match. Also, the Grid connections would make a very good combination.
Hermit: Ignoring the Grid connections with Sage, and the glowing green connections of her Lion, Pidge is at her core a creative hermit. She herself says that she's better with computers than with people, and she prefers to work alone without anyone rummaging around in her things.
Strength: Pidge is a little ball of determination and passion. She'll do what it takes to get where she needs to be.
VETO: I really don't have any true vetos for her. I'll take where the chips lie.

ACTIONSPAM SAMPLE: Pidge babbling at Claudia
PROSE SAMPLE:
It’s hot. That’s the first thing that Pidge can really think about when she gets out of her lion on this forsaken slab of rock that she’s crashed down on. Without her team, and with communications down around her, it is going to be a struggle to get Green back on her paws and into the air. As Green puts up her particle barrier, Pidge takes a breath and walks toward what looks like the nearest town. Stopping just on the outskirts of town, she pulls up a console from her suit and starts a scan around her.

The air is heavy with radiation that seems to be coming from the ground itself, and the air is just barely breathable for humans. A few different sorts of life forms appear on her screen, ones that it seems she hasn’t come into contact with before. The most interesting is a silicone-based life form one that is made of crystals of various kinds of rock. Dismissing the console, she walks into town, a bit warily.

Whatever she expected on this particular planet, it is not this. It seems to be a combination of a slum town from an old movie and a Galra junk heap. Various kinds of aliens are walking around with cybernetics that would make Shiro’s arm almost look boring. However, she thinks, she can’t let herself be distracted, she needs to find what she needs and get back to Green to get off-planet. It will be hard, but she’s a Paladin of Voltron, and there is no challenge too difficult. Or at least that’s what Coran tries to tell them.

Three shops and a few too many questions later, Pidge is proud of herself. She traded some minor mechanical fixes for the parts she needs, and in the process learned about the history of the Hecatites who populate this planet from a roboticist who looked like she was made out of lapis lazuli. It isn’t long before she’s able to fix Green and get back in the air, quickly adding some information about a planet called Hecate into the database. The Galra have taken over the planet, she found out, to use the people as slaves to create various kinds of gemstones they need to create their cities and ships.

Radioing the Castle, her face is determined. “Coran? Allura? I have a job for us.” It is definitely time for Team Voltron. And maybe one day she can go back to Gehenna as well to help that Hecatite roboticist.
